“Schüblig” – as we call it in Switzerland are various heavily smoked sausages made throughout the German-speaking part of Switzerland. Made of pork and beef, some “Schüblig” are classified as dry sausage, while our version is cooked and smoked sausage. In Eastern Switzerland, “Häsch Schüblig i de Orä?” (have you got Schüblig in your ears?) is a common saying when someone misunderstands and can’t make out what is being said or pretends not to hear the conversation. “Schüblig” is available in most Swiss cities, now also in Taiwan, and you can enjoy it boiled, fried, grilled or cold.
